Johnstone Burgh travel to McKenna Park on Saturday (5th September) to face WoSFL Third Division side Saint Anthony's FC in the second round of the South Region Challenge Cup.

Saint Anthony's FC were formed in 1902. The Govan club won four Scottish Junior League titles in 1917, 1918, 1919 and 1921, as well as the West of Scotland Junior Cup in 1938. "The Ants" also reached the final of the Scottish Junior Cup in 1919 and 1925, but finished runners-up to Rutherglen Glencairn and Saltcoats Victoria respectively. The club play their home matches on a grass surface at McKenna Park in the Drumoyne area of Govan.

It has been a difficult start to the season for Saint Anthony's, who sit bottom of the WoSFL Third Division table in 16th place with three points, following one win and four defeats from their opening five matches. Their only win so far this season came in a 5-3 home victory over Lugar Boswell Thistle on Saturday 8th August.

In the club's most recent match, they suffered a 3-0 home defeat to East Kilbride YM last Saturday (29th August). Saints manager Barry McColgan will still believe his side can cause a massive upset at McKenna Park on Saturday.

Johnstone Burgh will be hoping to continue our positive start to the season. We currently sit in eighth place in the Scottish Lowland League West table with 11 points, following three wins, two draws and one defeat from our opening six matches.

We are in good recent form after two consecutive home wins over Newton Stewart on Saturday 22nd August and Dalbeattie Star last Saturday (29th August). Johnstone Burgh manager Stevie Farrell will be in a confident mood about his team's chances of progressing to the next round in Govan this weekend.
