Newton Stewart have had a difficult start to their first season in the new Scottish Lowland League West, with one win, one draw and seven defeats from their opening nine games. Previous meeting: Johnstone Burgh FC 3-2 Newton Stewart FC, at Keanie Park on Saturday 22nd August 2026.
Johnstone Burgh come into this Saturday's match on a very good run of form. Since our last meeting with Newton Stewart on the 22nd of August, the club has a record of five wins, one draw and one defeat in all competitions.
The Burgh's most recent match was as dramatic as it comes, as we defeated Renfrew FC 3-2 at Keanie Park in the Scottish Lowland League West, last Saturday (26th September). Goals from Mark Barrowman and Aaron Mason gave the home side a 2-0 half time lead. Renfrew hit back in the second half as they scored two goals in four minutes to level the match at 2-2, with just over 25 minutes to play. With the game looking like it was going to end all-square, up popped Thomas Orr to score the winning goal in the first minute of added time to secure all three points for Stevie Farrell's side.
See you all in Newton Stewart on Saturday.
