Johnstone Burgh travel to Newlandsfield Park this Wednesday evening to face high flying Pollok. The Glasgow side were formed in 1908 and boast a rich history in the Junior game. The club have won several honours, which include three Scottish Junior Cups and twelve major regional league titles. Newlandsfield Park has a spectator capacity of 2,088, and is considered to be one of the best grounds to attend by visiting supporters.
Pollok have made an excellent start to the Scottish Lowland League West season by taking ten points from a possible twelve. "The Lok" have so far beaten Troon, Renfrew and Dalbeattie Star, and in their most recent league fixture they played out a 2-2 draw away to Newton Stewart last Saturday (8th of August). "The Southside's Local Team" currently sits in third place in the table behind Largs Thistle and Celtic B. Manager Stewart Maxwell will be in a confident mood ahead of Wednesday night's fixture, especially after Pollok's 1-0 win away to Brechin City on Saturday (15th August), in the first round of The South Challenge Cup.
Johnstone Burgh come into the match in a confident mood themselves after a solid start to their Scottish Lowland League West campaign. The Burgh have taken five points from a possible nine, with an opening day win over Troon at home, a draw away to Celtic B, and most recently a 2-2 draw at home to Albion Rovers last Saturday (8th of August). Manager Stevie Farrell will be looking to continue his side's unbeaten start to the season by getting a long overdue win at Newlandsfield Park on Wednesday evening.
Mark Durnan will be missing from the Johnstone Burgh squad through suspension, along with Cammy Eadie, who is still out with a long term injury. Mark Barrowman returns, as does Aaron Mason after serving a one match ban against Albion Rovers.
See you all at Newlandsfield Park on Wednesday.
